We have left Beijing and we are now in the fantastic city of Shanghai. On first impressions its seems far more relaxed and western in appearance compared to Beijing. Apart from a dinner hosted in our honour last night and a stage call, I haven’t seen too much.
The last week in Beijing was great. We opened with The Sleeping Beauty and a Triple Bill. Both seemed to go down very well, and the audiences were very appreciative. On a tourist note I went to The Great Wall of China which is absolutely incredible. It goes on for as far as the eye can see it truly is a magical place where in which you feel at great peace.
We also visited the Lama Temple which is for Tibetan Buddhism; it is the most wonderful temple I have seen in China so far. It is very run down and has not been painted yet still a magnificent active place of worship. It was great to get lost in such a spiritual place which has so much history. In that evening after the last show, a few of us were invited to a dinner party at the last residence of the Dalai Lama which finished the day off so perfectly, and our stay in Beijing!
After a very turbulent flight we eventually got to Shanghai were we are only here for 2 proper full days, so as in true Royal Ballet style I will fill in as much as I can!…
