The Royal Ballet China Tour 2008

As The Royal Ballet embarks upon its 2008 Tour of the Middle East, Artists James Wilkie and Kristen McNally will be sharing their experiences of life on the road with the Company, giving us regular updates on the entire on-stage and behind-the-scenes goings on in the form of diary entries and photographs.

James and Kristen became members of The Royal Ballet in 2002 and will be dancing in Manon, Sylvia and The Sleeping Beauty on tour, so check back regularly for their accounts of the rehearsal process,performances and backstage occurrences throughout the month-long visit to China and Japan.

BP Summer Big Screens
As you prepare for an afternoon of live ballet broadcast directly from the main stage at the Royal Opera House, get a snapshot of life backstage as three dancers from The Royal Ballet take you through their experiences of the build up to the live transmission of Kenneth MacMillan’s Romeo and Juliet in Trafalgar Square on 1st June 2008.

Ryoichi Hirano, First Soloist and member of the Company since 2002 will be taking photographs to document the entire process from rehearsal room to the final performance and these will be accompanied by regular diary entries from Olivia Cowley, Artist, and Henry St. Clair, also a First Soloist, who will give us an exclusive insight into the life of a member of the corps de ballet as they prepare to perform one of the most popular works in The Royal Ballet’s repertoire.
